Narrative: This Icon is one of 14 written by Fr. Giuliani for The Crow Series, dedicated in the Church of St. Dennis at Crow Agency, Montana. The series depicts the mysteries of Mary in the likeness of the Crow people. The original Icons are each written on dramatic three-by-six foot panels.
Traditional iconography gives witness to the human face of the Sacred. This icon, imaged in the features of the Americas’ indigenous peoples, reveals anew that sacred power. It celebrates the soul of the Native American as the original spiritual presence on this land, and as a prophetic sign, it celebrates the reconciliation of the spiritual vision of Native and Christian peoples.
