Narrative: The Immaculate Heart of Mary is a beloved image and devotion of Christians. In this iconic depiction, Mary is shown in the glory which is hers through the grace of God. She is robed in blue with a red cloak – blue is symbolic of humanity, red divinity. Though human, Mary was wrapped in the Holy Spirit. Indeed, the three golden stars on her cloak symbolize that Mary was the dwelling place of the Most Holy Trinity. She stands radiant upon an elevated platform embraced by the stars as Queen of Heaven. Her arms are outstretched in welcome, while her heart is imaged as a mystical rose, aflame with love, enfolded by a burst of immaculate light.

The Hail Holy Queen
Hail, holy Queen, mother of mercy,
hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To you we cry, the children of Eve;
to you we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this land of exile.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
your eyes of mercy towards us;
lead us home at last
and show us the blessed fruit of your womb,
Jesus:
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
