Narrative: Jesus performed his first miracle during the wedding at Cana. There he turned
water into wine at the promptings of his mother.
In this traditional icon, Jesus is shown with Mary, the wedding party and servant. It is a foreshadowing of the heavenly banquet where Christ will wed his bride the Church through the sacrificial wine of his own blood on the cross.
